Information About Estate Planning

Create a Comprehensive Plan to Avoid California Probate Court

Having a Living Trust allows you to create a plan for handling your assets that does not require probate court supervision. Instead, you decide what assets to put in the trust and name a trust administrator. Although there are expenses with setting up the trust and administration fees, when significant assets are involved it is usually more cost effective to have a Living Trust than to incur the costs involving probate.

Reasons for a Living Trust - Real Estate, Confidentiality, & Efficiency

If you own real estate, a Living Trust allows you to transfer property directly from the Trust to the beneficiary you designate. Instead of Probate Court supervision, the Trust Administrator you specify (Trustee) oversees the transactions. If you own multiple properties, especially across multiple states, a Living Trust allows an easier method of transfer to your beneficiaries and will avoid multiple probate proceedings.

How you set up your Living Trust is confidential and administration of your estate is not part of the public record as in probate. Generally, the terms of your Living Trust are only shared with your named beneficiaries and Trustee.

A Living Trust allows you to use the items you place in it (homes, property, etc) but upon your death, the transfer to those you designate happens much faster than in probate. To protect items not initially listed in your Trust, a pour-over will can be set up to make sure you assets are distrusted as you desire.

An Estate Planning Lawyer Taking Responsiveness to a New Level

My San Fernando Valley area legal practice is dedicated to helping people make good decisions and secure arrangements to protect and provide for the ones they love. Planning may be an emotional process, and you don’t need an attorney who treats you like a case rather than an individual. I am highly responsive to your needs and I return client phone calls quickly — in fact, I guarantee that I will do so in two business days or credit the client with $100 toward legal fees, if all fees are paid the client receives a check.
